The New York Rangers assigned Filip Chytil to Hartford of the American Hockey League and released fellow forward Andrew Desjardins from his professional tryout contract, the team announced Tuesday.
Chytil, who was scratched for Sunday's contest versus the Montreal Canadiens, has logged just 12:39 of ice time in two games this season. The 18-year-old made his NHL debut on Oct. 5 against the Colorado Avalanche, becoming the fourth-youngest player to appear in a game with the Rangers in franchise history.
Desjardins skated in three preseason games with New York this year. The 31-year-old has recorded 23 goals, 41 assists and 307 penalty minutes in 408 career contests with the San Jose Sharks and Chicago Blackhawks.
